The Lakewood 4th of July Parade began in 1964 with two kids riding their bikes down Lakewood Boulevard - and has since grown into one of East Dallas' most beloved traditions.
What started as a small neighborhood celebration has evolved into a full-scale patriotic parade complete with decorated bikes and golf carts, creative floats, festive parade gatherings, and watch parties lining the parade route.
For more than 50 years, the Lakewood 4th of July Parade has remained true to its roots:
Each year, thousands of neighbors gather to celebrate community, creativity, and country - and we invite you to be part of it.
Location: Lakewood Blvd. & Cambria Blvd.
Fun Run: 8:00 AM (approximately 1.2 miles)
Parade Kickoff: 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 4, 2026
Start your morning with the Annual Lakewood Mini-Marathon Fun Run, then line up your decorated bikes, wagons, strollers, and floats for the parade.
From the honorary “Mayor of Lakewood” to the Heart of Lakewood Trophy, parade buttons passed down year after year, and thousands of patriotic neighbors along the parade route, this event represents generations of neighborhood pride.
The Lakewood 4th of July Parade is more than an event.
It is a legacy.
We look forward to celebrating with you in 2026.
