Tell us about Skylar Champion Real Estate

What led you to getting involved with the Lakewood Neighborhood Association?

I am very passionate about our neighborhood. I have lived in East Dallas for over 15 years, I have two kids going through our public school system, and I am so committed to see Lakewood thrive. I love giving back to this community through my job, volunteering and supporting local businesses that make this neighborhood so special. I have served on the Lakewood Home Tour by chairing it for a number of years, was president of the LECPTA and are currently serving as fundraising liaison and consistent sponsor. Serving on the Lakewood Elementary and JL Long PTA board and SBDM committee is also a current passion. The neighborhood association is so important because it is another way to stay connected to our neighbors, and I love being a part of that.

What makes Lakewood a unique or desirable neighborhood for buyers right now?

Lakewood is this perfect pocket inside Dallas. Not only does it have one of the best public schools in Dallas but it is so unique because it draws in people that love the big city feel but want to be closer to nature, the lake, the trails, etc. Dallas doesn’t have a lot of that and people (especially those moving here from out of state) are really drawn to that. There is a little something for everyone here, and I love that about Lakewood.

How do you see the neighborhood evolving over the next few years?

I think it will just continue to grow. There is so much construction going on right now as homes are torn down and new ones being built so I expect there to be more and more families moving in, which is great for our area. We also love that there are a lot of traditions being carried out in the neighborhood such as the Lakewood home tour and Falalala toy drive. Both of these events bring our community together and raise funds and gifts for those less fortunate.
